Attached to the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Professor Lawrence is also Director of a continuing education course on sustainable development and Agenda 21 targeted at elected officials, public administrators and managers in the private sector.
Nithi Nesadurai is Coordinator of the Malaysian Climate Change Group. He has regularly attended the United Nations negotiations on climate change.
Environmental Protection Society of Malaysia (EPSM) organized a World Environment Day Public Forum themed “Your Planet Needs You: Unite to Combat Climate Change” on the 5th June 2009. The speakers at the forum consist of Professor Roderick Lawrence from the University of Geneva and Nithi Nesadurai, the President of EPSM. The main issue of the forum was the human race’s sustainability in this rapidly developing world. Human’s demand on the earth resources has exceeded the world’s biocapacity by 25 percent. This means, we need more than 1 earth to continue sustaining the way we live. This situation can still be retract with good urban planning.
